As the first project of “CLAY material LAB” by FUJIFILM DESIGN CENTER, STUDIO BYCOLOR Kaori AKIYAMA was designing and directing the exhibition “IMPRESS” at TIERS GALLERY, from March 20 to 23 2025.

STUDIO BYCOLOR 秋山かおりが、2025年3月20日から23日までTIERS GALLERYで開催された展覧会「IMPRESS」のデザイン・ディレクションを手がけました。
#01 SHELL: Side Table
A side table with a scaled-out version of the interference color iridescence found in black pearls and Akoya pearls. The work shows how the structural color ink-jet film sealed in the laminated glass creates different expressions with different background colors.

黒蝶真珠とアコヤ真珠に見られる干渉色から想起し、虹色に輝く姿をスケールアウトしたサイドテーブル。積層ガラスに封じ込まれた構造色インクジェットフィルムが、背景色の違いで異なる表情を生み出すことが感じられる作品。

#02 BUBBLE：Mirror
シャボン玉がもつ多色が軽やかに揺らめく様子。
ミラー材と構造色インクジェットフィルムの組み合わせによって、その干渉色を表現した作品。

The multi-colored, lightly shimmering appearance of soap bubbles.
The combination of mirror material and structural color inkjet film gives the work a sense of interference colors.

#03 SHELL: Mobile.
The mobile glints in the sunlight as it slowly rotates. Light reflected on vertical surfaces brings unexpected views. The difference between the colour of the structural colour inkjet film and the colour of the transmitted light is astonishing.

ゆっくりと回転しながら太陽光を受けて煌めくモビール。垂直に存在することで光が思わぬ景色をもたらす。
構造色インクジェットフィルムの色と透過光の色との違いが感じられる作品。

#04 WOOD：Low Table
未利用の国産木材（ナラ枯れ材）の木目を、生きた証として構造色インクジェットフィルムへ写し取り、ローテーブルへと展開した作品。
木目を構造色で表現するという新しい取り組みに挑戦。
#04 WOOD: Low Table
The grain of unused Japanese oak (dead oak) is captured as living traces on structural color inkjet film and developed into a low table. A new approach to the challenge of expressing the grain of the wood in structural color.

#05 MARBLE: Table.
This work expresses the unique depth of marble texture by replacing it with structural color inkjet film. A new attempt to express the beautiful colors and patterns of marble, formed by the earth over many years, in transparent structural colors.

大理石ならではの奥行が感じられる風合いを、構造色インクジェットフィルムへ置き換えて表現した作品。
地球が長い年月をかけて形成した大理石の美しい色や模様を、透明感ある構造色で表現する新たな試み。
